With a goal of providing a new and different way of seeing everyday scenes, for those who take the time to look, Diane Maurer creates painting which invoke an emotional response and sense of place.

From the finely detailed architecture featured in her lighthouses, snowbound cabins and eastern manors, to a body of richly drawn images of wildlife and flora, Diane demonstrates versatility with subject and style.

Maurer, who holds a BFA from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, majored in Interior Design, and while eschewing design in favor of a career in fine art, she finds the technical aspects of her background in perspective, composition, drawing and color theory invaluable in mastering watercolor, her medium of choice.

Fascinated by the play of light, Diane depicts the delighful shifts of nature—from dazzling sunlight to somber morning fog—to highlight the shape and line of her strong compositions.

Diane's paintings have been shown in numerous invitational and juried shows throughout the region and she maintains affiliations with the Northeast Watercolor Society (signature member), the Baltimore Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society, the West Virginia Watercolor Society and the Philadelphia Watercolor Society.
