Exciting, spectacular, dazzling, breathtaking, exhilarating, spirited, soulful, enchanting, captivating, and intriguing – modest words which describe but by no means capture the full essence of Ukrainian folk art, song, music, and dance. From the rich color and deep symbolism of the delicate “pysanka” (Ukrainian Easter Egg) to the thunderous rhythm and power of “HOPAK” – the world’s most exciting ethnic dance - and every brilliant “Kolomiyka” (polka) and soulful folk song in between, experience the 25th Annual Ukrainian Folk Festival. The artists (dance troupes, musicians, singers and ensembles that have performed in previous years) have created a dynamic and integrated collaborative program. The artistic unity underscores the theme: United Ukraine; United with Us.
Recent events in Ukraine, the Euromaidan Protest and Revolution of Dignity as well as the twilight struggle against unlawful Russian aggression, have forged a unified Ukrainian national identity, both in Ukraine and in the Diaspora. America’s support of Ukraine’s commitment to a self-determined democratic future - to life, liberty, freedom and justice – has created permanent bonds of friendship between the two nations. This year’s festival honors these special relationships and developments.
The featured performers include: Voloshky Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, Vox Ethnika Orchestra, violinist Innesa Tymochko Dekajlo, Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, soloist-Singer Yuliya Stupen, Living in Song Chamber Choir, Live Reenactments from Ukrainian History, by Banner of Jasna Gora.
In addition to the performances, the festival will have homemade Ukrainian foods & baked goods, Ukrainian Folk Arts & Crafts (both market and displays), BBQ & picnic fare, drinks & cool refreshments. The children’s area will have games, amusements, and free face painting.
