"Big Views in a Small City" Mike Mann's latest painting exhibition and sale will be at Bucks Ice Cream and Espresso Bar (25 Bridge St, Lambertville, NJ) Show More...throughout the month of July. The show will feature recent small paintings done in oil, acrylics and watercolor mostly of very local scenes. The artist will be on hand to greet visitors, friends and patrons on Sunday, July 2 from 5 to 8pm. Bucks is open daily from 6am to pm.
Mann generally works from life in an impressionistic/realistic style. The artist says "I always prefer to work plein air since that makes it easier to catch the feeling and life of a place. Painting outdoors is also a great way to meet people. It is especially fun to share my work with children and budding artists." Most of his art is done near his Stockton home and he usually goes by bicycle. But when traveling, his art supplies always go with.
The artist studied at the Art Students League in New York City, mostly under a great illustrator- Steven R. (Joe) Kidd. His work is always colorful and brimming with life and action. He often catches people in his pictures as they pass through the scene. During much of July, Mann plans to be painting very near the show so he can be easily available to meet interested people.
You can find Mann's work on the Internet by searching Mike Mann's Art. He can be contacted at (609)439-9978.
The exhibition will run until July 31.. ...Show Less

Phillips' Mill Community Association presents "Nobody's Perfect," a childrens' theater musical-comedy featuring local 8-14 year-old students performing Show More...acapella music. The show is based on the Pitch Perfect movie, and showcases several acapella groups battling in a fictional state competition to save their high school's arts program. The musical production takes place just one night (July 28, 7:30) and tickets typically sellout.
The story revolves around a high school principal who gleefully dismantles the Arts Department to ensure funding for his beloved athletic program. The school's art director faces the humiliation of seeing her classroom become the storage closet for used equipment.
Fortunately two student a capella groups, "Ransom Notes" and "Chord on Blues," are gearing up to win the state competition's cash award so they can save their school's beloved arts program. But as the groups prepare, they face escalating pranks and the threat of the nearby school's "Treble Threat," an acapella group that somehow maintains an unbroken record of victories at the state acapella contest.
Join us in this one-hour musical comedy and enjoy the gifted voices of some of this area's most talented, young musicians. Joey Nalty directs the musical comedy, which was written by her husband Kevin. The music is arranged and directed by Jaime Rogers, who is Lenape High School's award-winning Director of Music and Choirs.

The show will feature recent small paintings done in oil, acrylics and watercolor mostly of very local scenes.

- Show More...Philadelphia's premiere roaring Twenties party to draw guests from around the region to outdoor lawn party at the last Gilded Age mansion on the Delaware River -
Philadelphia, PA -- Jazz Age on the Delaware will return on Saturday, July 29, from 11:00am to 5:00pm, on the estate of Glen Foerd on the Delaware. Enjoy open-air merriment with 1920's music and dancing, live entertainment, dance lessons, elaborate picnics, vintage-inspired food and drink, vintage shopping, mansion tours, lawn games, antique automobiles, pie baking and fashion contests, and much more. Glen Foerd on the Delaware is one of Philadelphia's most beautiful public parks and historic sites. The Gilded Age estate, which boasts a beautiful mansion and numerous outbuildings, will serve as the grand host for the roaring Twenties party. Step through the estate's front gates and travel back to a time when the Charleston was all the rage on the dance floor, hemlines and hairstyles were on the rise, and libations went underground with Prohibition.
"Jazz Age on the Delaware is a day to experience and partake in the free-spirited fun so prevalent in the 1920s," said Executive Director Meg Sharp Walton. "Guests will come as close as they'll ever get to an era where it seemed as though good times would never end."
Revelers will enjoy an experience that brings together the best of 1920s music, dancing, fashion, food, drink and more. All festivities listed below will take place on the Glen Foerd grounds at 5001 Grant Avenue, and are included with the price of admission (unless otherwise noted). The rain date is Sunday, July 30 th . Tickets are non-refundable.

LIVE PERFORMANCES
Jazz Age on the Delaware presents the bees knees of entertainment from Philadelphia and New York City. The line-up will include:
Dandy Wellington & His Band - With a passion for obscure songs steeped in the Jazz tradition, Dandy Wellington has assembled a catalog of music that invokes an atmosphere of class. From the golden age of cinema, to the bounce of New Orleans, each song is hand selected and played to perfection by a band cut from the cloth of elegance.
Drew Nugent & The Midnight Society - Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society specialize in playing jazz, blues, and pop music from 1900-1934. With a focus on the Jazz Age, this ensemble boasts an extensive catalog of songs that will surely get you dancing.
The Gin Canaries - The Gin Canaries have Miss Christa Hackenberg and Paul Salter on vocals (and horns), Louis Marchesani on guitar and banjo, and David Graves on the keys. Each member shares a love of the jazz era and together, these birds bring it back to life.
The Minsky Sisters - The Minksy Sisters are swingin' and shufflin', tappin' and flappin' their way around speakeasy street, hoping to give you a glimpse of what has been referred to as "sizzle!"
The Old City Sweethearts - The Old City Sweethearts are ready to tap their shoes and cut a rug! These lovely ladies from Philadelphia can turn any party or event into a real vintage soirée.
If your toes start tapping and you find that you don't know the moves, complimentary Charleston lessons will be provided on the dance floor under the blue skies.
FOOD AND LIBATIONS
Prohibition may have been law, but in the Twenties, rules were meant to be broken. Enjoy vintage-inspired cocktails, as well as handcrafter beer, while enjoying the sights and sounds of Jazz Age on the Delaware. Cocktails feature Bluecoat American Dry Gin, handcrafted right here in Philadelphia - the birthplace of America. Bluecoat represents the pinnacle of artisanal craft spirits. The distillery, tasting room and event space is located in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
Our beer sponsor, Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, is a craft brewery and taproom operating in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Saint Benjamin's interprets classic styles and design new creations such as the India Cream Ale and Junto, a coffee kolsch. The brewery, taproom and restaurant is located in the historic carriage house and stables of the defunct Theo Finkenauer Brewery.
Jazz Age tips the hat to Prohibition days with no outside spirits allowed on premises. All guests must be 21 or older to drink.
There are two options for your dining pleasure. Bring a picnic basket chock full of your homemade cuisine, or choose from delicious dishes from the area's best food trucks. Don't forget to bring a blanket to relax on the lawn! NO outside alcohol is allowed.
PIE BAKING CONTEST
Dust off your grandmother's recipe box, get out your rolling pin and enter the Jazz Age on the Delaware's pie baking contest.

Pie categories will include fruit and sweet pies, savory pies and most original pies. Upon arrival, contestants will drop off their pies by 12:30pm at the porch of the mansion. All Jazz Age guests can watch the judging at 1:30pm.

Just give your name to the judges at the fashion contest table when you arrive. Prizes will be awarded to the "Most Dapper Gent" and the "Most Fashionable Flapper."
One runner up will be selected in each category. Contestants will be sorted by the gender of their outfit, not the gender of the contestant. The criteria for our judges include: design, authenticity, and flair so come dressed to the nines and win some prizes!

Hear about the people, both wealthy and working class, that are part of the Glen Foerd story.

Rooted (as their name suggests) in vintage delta blues, then shaken and stirred with modern sounds!

George Sotter (1879-1953), an artist strongly identified with Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is best known for his magical winter nocturnes, scenes made Show More...even more enchanting by the blanket of snow that is a recurring motif in his work. Equally evocative, however, are his tranquil marines and sunlit landscapes. Sotter was a master at rendering sweeping panoramic vistas of Bucks County's hills, gently rolling under cumulous cloud-filled skies that create dramatic patterns of light and shadow. He was also well known for his work in stained glass. In addition to a significant investigation of Sotter's nocturnal landscapes, Light and Shadow will present the various other types of landscape he produced throughout his career, and will introduce his work as a stained-glass artist, and examine the artistic exchange between the media in which he worked. Chronological and geographic in scope, the exhibition will also provide a regional context for the nocturne theme-the subject with which Sotter is most often recognized-and will include nocturne subjects by many of his Bucks County artistic contemporaries as well as some from further afield.. ...Show Less
